For this trip we booked Hotel Stripes through Booking.com because it was very reasonably priced for a 5* hotel and looked absolutely stunning!

Stunning it was... this has to be one of the best looking hotel rooms I have stayed in.
The mirror was amazing with bright lights all around it (very celeb!) and the shower was huge with a marble seat inside!

I couldn't fit the whole room into my own photo as it was so large! It looks exactly the same as this in person if not better, with the most cloud-like bed. The generous facilities didn't just end in the room either, the rooftop pool and bar were really special and we used the pool each evening to cool off after exploring. There was a gym which I didn't try out but looked very well equipped.

Our first evening at the rooftop pool |
The staff were amazing and couldn't do enough for us, particularly at breakfast time. We opted to have breakfast included in our stay which I would strongly recommend as the price is reasonable and you get so much food! There were hot and cold options, both Malaysian and western.
There was an egg station, a variety of continental delights - some healthy and some more indulgent. I'm sure you can guess which I went for! They had a fresh smoothie of the day each morning and a range of juices which I don't always find are on offer at typical hotel buffets. We loved that the waiters remembered our hot drink order each morning and also kept us topped up with juices and smoothies.

Relaxing on our last day with our 4pm checkout |
As this is a balanced and honest review, I must point out that the downside of this hotel is that it is a little further out than other competitors in the 5* range but this didn't bother us too much as we planned to explore all corners of the city anyway. It is also reflected in its value for money prices!
The surrounding location has plenty of bars and restaurants, which is great for evening plans but meant it was a little noisy during the night. I'd suggest requesting a quiet room at the back of the hotel to ensure you don't hear the surrounding noise.
When we mentioned the noise levels to the staff we were given an extra late check out on our last day so they really do go above and beyond - this is a theme we saw throughout Kuala Lumpur!
On the whole I would recommend this hotel if you are looking for a luxury, boutique, modern hotel and don't mind getting Grabs around the city (Asia's Uber!) - they are cheap and very easy to obtain. I hope we can return to Hotel Stripes in future, I am already dreaming of being back in that rooftop pool!
